The North Marion Athletics Hall of Fame consists of athletes, coaches, and teams that have accomplished some of the highest achievements in North Marion High School history. The Hall of Fame debuted in the fall of 2010 with ensuing ceremonies taking place in 2011, 2013, and 2015. The recognition currently includes 26 different coaches, athletes, and teams. Below is a complete listing of all 26 inductees and their induction class year.
Randy Brack (2015)Brack won a championship as a member of the 1971 baseball squad before starting a coaching career at North Marion that has vaulted him into the top ten for all-time coaching wins in Oregon Baseball history.
Craig Brown (2015)A basketball, football, and track athlete in the 1960s. Set the school broad jump record on four separate occasions and was a state champ in 1966.
Kory Casto (2015)One of two Huskies to play Major League Baseball. Casto was the Oregon 3A Player of the Year in 2000 before playing collegiately with University of Portland and debuting with the Washington Nationals in 2007.
Tami Halter (2015)Halter is one of North Marion's top female athletes, winning State Player of the Year for Girls Basketball in 1983 & 1984. Part of the 1983 Girls Basketball Championship team.
Ford Stigall (2015)One of North Marion's ten wrestling state champions, doing so in 1991. Went on to coach some of the most successful Huskies wrestling squads, including his three sons who have all won a state championship for North Marion.
Bernadine Ward (2015)Ward was as involved as a staff member can be at North Marion, leading tennis teams, P.E. classes, Key clubs, Pep clubs, track teams, and more.
1990 Softball (2013)Team finished the 1990 regular season with a 20-3-1 record including an unblemished 12-0 mark in Capital Conference play. The Huskies advanced to the state championship game by virtue of back-to-back one-run victories before falling one run short of a championship.
Jack Berkey (2013)Standout athlete in football (half back), basketball (guard), and baseball. One of the most well-rounded athletes in school history.
Jim Bowman (2013)Boys Basketball and Cross Country coach for the Huskies, but was most notably a North Marion track & field coach. Started in 1966 and is still coaching some 45+ years later.
Kelsey Kahle (2013)Most prolific female athlete in North Marion history in soccer, basketball, and track. School record 39 points in one game while being named as state player of the year twice. She won three state titles in track & field before going to Portland State for girls basketball. At PSU, she was a three-time Big Sky All-Conference and left the Vikings as the leading career scorer and rebounder.
Roger Moore (2013)Football co-captain and first team all-league in the late 1950's, highest batting average in baseball in 1957 as well as a track & field participant and choir member.
Steve Schrenk (2013)One of two North Marion athletes to make it to the Major Leagues. Two-time first team all state and a 4th Round Draft Pick of the Chicago White Sox in 1987 out of high school.
1971 Baseball (2011)The 1971 Baseball team brought home the first outright state title after pitcher Gary Hopkins tossed a no-hitter to defeat Sherwood in the championship game.
Al Barendse (2011)A long time advocate of female sports in the community, namely softball. The yearly award for best female athlete at North Marion is named after him.
Boyd Brown (2011)Member of the University of Oregon athletics hall of fame for the javelin, winning four national titles. One of the original directors of North Marion High School. The yearly award for the top male athlete at North Marion is named after him.
Keith Driver (2011)Most Valuable Player of the Husky football team in the 1950's as well as an all-league member in football, boys basketball, and baseball.
Carrie Knopp (2011)Easily the most decorated swimmer in North Marion history, advancing to the state championships in all of her events for four straight years. Knopp finished her career with eight top ten finishes at state including 2nd place in the 100-yd breaststroke her junior year.
Ken Lambert (2011)Wrestling State Champ in 1959 at the 178-pound weight class, Cross Country State Champ in 1958, state placer for the mile run in 1958 and 1959, also playing on the football team.
Junior Sato (2011)Successful boys basketball coach but most notably brought North Marion its first outright state title, coaching the 1971 Baseball club.
1958 Boys Track (2010)The 1958 Boys Track & Field team - behind state placings from Lamb, Hoefling, and Lambert - claimed the school's first state championship.
1983 Girls Basketball (2010)The 1983 Girls Basketball team brought home the OSAA State Championship with a five-point victory over La Salle in the championship contest. It was just the third state title for the Huskies.
John Bridgens (2010)Coach Bridgens led the 1983 Girls Basketball team (who is also inducted in the HOF) to the state title.
Pat Chaffey (2010)Arguably the highest-achieving athlete in the history of North Marion, excelling in track, basketball, baseball, and most notably football. Chaffey was recruited by Oregon State and played fullback for the Beavers, becoming a team captain in 1989. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 5th round of the 1990 NFL Draft and ended his career having played 31 games for the Bears, Falcons, and Jets.
Rick Lamb (2010)Rick was the highest performing athlete on the 1958 Boys Track & Field team that won a team state title. Lamb himself won three individual titles that year, providing a big push for North Marion.
Linda Lamprecht (2010)The first female athlete to win a state title at North Marion. Linda claimed the 110m Hurdle in her junior and senior seasons (1976 and 1977).
